Two hundred years ago today--October 9, 1825--the sailing ship Restauration arrived in New York harbor. This marked the start of mass emigration from Norway to the United States. The bicentennial of this event is being observed today in New York by the arrival of a replica ship.

Last year, the seminary students had their photograph taken in the full-size replica outline of the Restauration as they stood outside the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa.
